Cuffs and Hair Bling

Sucre has recently added cuffs to the accessory line, as well as giving the hair accessories a new look! The new products debuted at the two last events Sucre took place in. I mixed a bit of the old Sucre with new vintage filigree and it seems to be a hit! The bling in pairs is $12, the large single flowers are $8, and the single bling is $6 and cuffs range from $18 to $30. There are many styles and colors to chose from and I am in the process of getting them photographed… if you are interested in a particular style and color let me know… either I have it or can make it!!!

Cunningham Wedding

Two weeks ago my brother in law Scott and his fiancé Lindz were married in the Cayman Islands. Before they left Steven and I had them over for dinner and I gave her a special wedding clip. I wanted us to be a part of their special day even though we were not attending. I made Lindz a “something new, some blue, penny for your shoe” clip. I created a white flower with lace and blue ribbon accent, then in the middle added a penny dated 2009 (the year they became a couple) and completed the flower with pearls. She wore it the day of their wedding and she looked stunning. When she forwarded me the photos I started to cry not only because she was beautiful, but because looking at the photos I saw a couple truly in love… Scott looks at her as Steven looks at me and it is something magical.

I have read that via the blogging world never to apologize for not blogging… Being a type “A” people pleaser I am finding it mighty difficult not to say… IM SO SORRY FOR NOT BLOGGING. There, I did it… its off my chest. I have taken some time off from creating hair accessories because as most know, my husband was home for about 40 days for some R & R. I did use a few days to work during the holiday because I had a few custom orders, but his time home was spent with a much needed vacation and time for our family to bond.

I did however realize two things while I was “off.” First I realized how much I truly love my husband and look forward to day he is home for good. I am a very independent person and a few times I have to admit I would get REALLY irritated with the way he did dishes, made the bed or didn’t clean off the mirror after he would shave. I know that these are small insignificant things, yet being home by myself 90 percent of the time I get use to “my way!” Which, yes, I admit… it not the right way. Steven has been gone a week and today is the first day I am starting to feel like myself. This rotation has been a hard one and perhaps it is due to his lengthy vacation. The second thing I realized was I LOVE CREATING hair accessories. I really missed working in my office for hours and sometimes days!

So what’s new and exciting… well, I have sketched out a few things that I would like to try and decided that I will be using more jewel and bead centers versus flowers. I have noticed that they are selling much faster than the flower centers. During my down time my sister had a baby. She delivered about 7 weeks early and we spent many days and nights at the hospital. My gorgeous nephew was in NICU for several weeks and we LONGED for the day to bring him home. During my sisters stay, I “borrowed” a hospital gown (CLEAN of course), brought it home and made hair clips for Lulu, my sister and I; along with a pin for Mamaw (my mom). My dad has a crazy 33 year old tradition. On our birthdays, he wears the same shirt he brought us home in… so as Gru would say (for all you Despicable Me fans)… light bulb! I thought… we can wear these accessories when he comes home, and on his birthday… just a fun way to keep Papa’s tradition alive. Because my mind rarely stops moving at 100 mph, I figured I would extend to any of my customers the opportunity for them to send me material, t shirts, old blankies or any other sentimental fabric and I would create accessories that can be gifted or kept. The last inventory went FAST! There is another 200 plus in stock. I am waiting for another 200 alligator clips from my supplier (whom now sends me the “no slip grip” pads and they are wonderful). I am now adding the “no slips” to each shipment… it’s a great way to keep the clippy from budging! Once I get the next shipment and create new accessories, I will update what we have in stock.

It is so hard to advertise the clips individually on the Sucre Lulu site and Etsy store, as each one is so very different. Although the same fabric or flowers are used no two clips are the same. I pride myself on the uniqueness and I love doing custom orders!

Giants fans… Sucre has PLENTY of orange get them while they are available! Finally, the holidays are right around the corner and Sucre will be offering discounts from time to time so keep your eyes out! Don’t forget these make the PERFECT stocking stuffer too!

I spent 12 plus hours working on 246 new fall/winter hair accessories. I have taken photos of the mini bobby clips, small and large clips. I have organized them by flower color; I hope that it makes purchases a bit easier! I have been struggling with how to post my inventory on Etsy. Therefore, I need your feedback! Because I have over 300 hair accessories available and they are in two local salons it is hard to photograph each one, and post it on Etsy. I will be taking the new clips to the salons this week, so inventory will change yet again… Because you are my valued customers I need your thoughts! Last week I received an order for four custom onesies… I loved working on this! I just happen to have some left over Chargers fabric (from a blanket I made for a friend), and needless to say the expecting mommy and hubby are Charger fans! Well, they were a hit!! It has been a wonderful summer… with vacations, family visiting and soccer; the Cunningham casa has been crazy! Although at times the house seems like a revolving door I have had some time to sit back, relish in the memories and thank God for my countless blessings. I realized last night that time passes us so quickly and as Horace wrote, “carpe diem!” Seize the day because we cannot foresee the future and time flies I feel like it was just yesterday I was kissing my kindergartener goodbye for his first day of school… and now he is in third grade!

I have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people since I started the business. I have an eye for the arts, however my photography skills are lacking. We did invest in a new camera and I cannot begin to write about what a HUGE difference just that has made; yet photo editing has really been hard for me. I tried Corel and Adobe Elements and I failed miserably at both!!! I have been in touch with a few WONDERFUL photographers in the last few months and we have done some “trades.” Their work is stunning and I am struggling to write how thankful and amazed I am. These photos have just enhanced my site and I feel as though the true products uniqueness is captured.

This weekend was insane with soccer. Ethan had games Friday and Saturday and both nights I/we were at the field until after 10pm. Needless to say work has been on the back burner… I got up early this morning to check emails and get orders ready to ship… and the first email I read was from Sarah Wise (http://www.wisefam.blogspot.com/). Sarah took some photos of her gorgeous daughter modeling Sucre Lulu. I was in awe… in fact I immediately messaged Steven and said, “client I traded product for photos did her 1st shoot. I am updating my site. Pictures gorgeous. Cant w8 4 u to c the site I feel so blessed!” (excuse the text lingo) So, thank you Sarah and Kathryn (for modeling). Sarah will be doing a senior portrait session soon and will be taking more photos of Sucre accessories… I cannot wait to see the photos!!!

Finally, I have spent a few days here and there working on product and after many house made 102 new clips! I am waiting for the alligator clips to be delivered and once they are I will finish the clips and snap some shots and post…. Stay tuned because this is one of the best batches yet!

Back to the OLE GRIND

It has officially been one week since Steven left for Iraq. It gets harder each time; however I have learned how to handle it better! I wait until I am away from the drop off area before I cry, or should I say sob? ! The first several days are very tough, and I am so blessed to have wonderful family and friends to support me. My sister invited the kids and I to Bodega Bay Dunes and it was JUST what I needed. We spent the day at the beach, and spent the evening huddled by the campfire listening to the waves and fog horn. I spent the rest of the week at home, getting back into the routine, yet my sadness and broken heart did not subside. I miss my soul mate and best friend. I miss our time together… I cannot wait to see him again in a few months… We both agree that God has a plan for us and we will continue to honor Him and have faith! Although we are apart, we are blessed with our health and a home, family and friends.

So, this week I peeled myself off the floor and the sadness that consumed me and started working! I was asked to create some onesies for a baby shower, received a hair clip request from a bride, and was just asked to donate a gift certificate for a raffle. In addition, Angie Arthur (with Angie Arthur Photography) featured Sucre Lulu on her blog. I am doing a $50 giveaway (www.thearthurclan.com), and she took some phenomenal photo’s of the product. I cannot wait to post them. Thank you Angie… I am so honored!

Business and Life Updates

It has been an amazing, hectic, fun, eventful three weeks! Lulu and I picked up Steven on the 22nd of June. It was a joyous and tearful moment when we met him at the terminal. We were over an hour early, because she INSITSTED we wait for him at the airport. We drove to dinner to meet family and about two hours later we discovered the window to the truck was shattered, and some of Stevens belongings were scattered in the parking lot; however the items with the highest value had been stolen. Which included his wallet, laptop, suitcase, prescription glasses and luggage; we were devastated! The next day we were able to recover his passport because of a good Samaritan. We felt blessed by the number of family members and friends whom offered to help. We were then off to Disneyland and San Diego. Time has gone by so quickly and I am sad that Steven’s time home is coming to an end. We will have one more family gathering tomorrow, prior to his 6am departure Monday.

Because we are down to one laptop, I was off line and out of touch for a while. Because of Stevens job his vacations are usually working vacations… needless to say I felt like I was missing a limb. BUT, I did take this as an advantage to beg and plead for an iPad! Although I don’t have one I will not give up! I am using our kids tactics of “beating you down until you break!” I figure 9 times out of 10 it works for them… I have one day left to strategically make my case… I will keep ya’ll posted!

Sucre has also added a new item to the bridal line… Garters! I was asked by a client to create two garters for a wedding she is in, and I figured it would be another wonderful product for Sucre. They turned out better than I hoped and I cannot wait to hear what the bride thought. I have also finished another clip for a bride and just love the finished product! I cannot thank the Tami, Allissa and Lindzi for allowing me to be a part of their special days! Thanks girls and I look forward to seeing the photos.

In the past several weeks I have been working tirelessly on Sucre Lulu inventory. Managing the house, working, rearing children and trying to take care of myself has been interesting to say the least. I have had the opportunity to meet a number of amazing mom bloggers, whom have done some amazing reviews on the accessories. I cannot thank Jill from “Women Who Do It All” blog, and Chelle from “The Winey Mommy” (both of their giveaways close at 11:59 tonight). Tomorrow Brittany from “The Greer 5” will be doing a review and giveaway and next Friday Crystal with “Wanna Be Balanced” will be doing yet another. These women have blessed me, and I feel honored and humbled by the opportunity they have provided me. I have already received a number of orders and I cannot thank them enough. Last week I made several trips to the Post Office; however one of the packages I was most excited about sending was that to the winner of the Buckles and Spurs Auction (fundraiser to help find a cure for Parkinson’s). This auction was last weekend in Atascadero, CA. I cannot thank Heidi and Tracy for allowing me to be a part of this event.

So where am I going with this…. Is this another senseless rant due to my self diagnosed ADD? NOPE… Just today I met a man whom makes shirts out of his home. He worked for 30+ years as a designer/print screener. Although Steven was hesitant about me going to someone’s home for the shirts I knew in my heart and gut that it would be okay. I sat and listened to this man talk about his years working, the people whom he has met, and the best part… how much he LOVED his job! He customized three shirts for me and the kids, and a business shirt for me. We discussed Stevens time in Iraq, how my business is challenging but rewarding and how he has stayed in business for so many years. He is launching a new product… Dreams on a pillow! He takes pillow cases, prints a picture and a saying on it and every night when you lay your head on the pillow you close your eyes to your dreams. AMAZING and BRILLIANT… he made two for me and I have already sold two! He was so thankful that I would spread the word (via the net) that he made my business shirt for free. I left his garage / store and for an hour thought about the blessings I have received from a few women who loved my product, and how I cannot wait to pay it forward. Once I have the pillowcases I will post them along with his information. I am going to talk to him about a possible giveaway, so stay tuned!

This week will be yet another week, as my baby turns 3, and we are preparing for Daddys arrival! Yes, you read that right… no more wondering, guessing or praying! Steven will be home in 10 short days. I am elated… it has been seven very long months and I miss him more than I can articulate. I miss the small things… the way he says my name, holds my hand in the car, makes my coffee, turns down the bed, does the dishes, and most importantly loves me (from our living room, not from a million miles). I am so happy and I look forward to your twenty days as a family!

Mini Accessories, Wedding Update and More…

I was recently asked to create a smaller version of the flower hair clips, because my best girlfriend claims her head is tiny! So last weekend I worked on a smaller hair pin and they actually turned out better than I thought! She adored them, I made more, sold those and made some more… I have four left! I will be working on more VERY soon. My bride chose her bridesmaid clips and we are re-creating her hair piece (I have attached the photos) and I cannot wait to see them in the girls hair and have professional photos on the site. I am working on creating a bird cage veil (recommended by a faithful client – thank you Alissa) and I cannot wait to see how it turns out. The past few weeks have been busy, the weather has been bizarre and although I feel as though I am part of a circus (juggling on a trapeze) I refuse to say I am stressed! I was able to be a part of a benefit a few weeks ago for CASA and not only did Sucre Lulu get great exposure; I was able to meet a ton of wonderful people. Since the event I have landscaped our yard (to included hauling bark, and putting in a spa), dealt with the crazy weather, and planned my mom’s 60th birthday party. Once over this hurdle I am sure there will be others!!! In about 6 weeks our summer vacation will start and then shortly after we will be going to Costa Rica for a vacation…

I have been working tirelessly on new clips, pins and headbands! I added some spring/summer flowers to the line…. Enjoy!

Sucre Lulu Facelift

It has been a while since I have last blogged and in part was due to the blog facelift. I cannot thank Marina from Penny Lane Designs enough for her hard work in creating the new look. She truly captured my style without even meeting me! So, thank you again Marina you are a blog design genius!

Ok, as most know my New Years Resolution was… not to use the word STRESS… And with that said the past two weeks have been the most difficult since Steven left for Iraq (almost two years ago). In two weeks I have (in no particular order):

-Bribed my stubborn two year old with a pony, bike and puppy to take her antibiotics (all I have to say is whew thank goodness she didn’t take it – the pony and puppy would have been hard to explain)
-Spent several hours at Kaiser due to her not taking her antibiotic
-Dealt with a faulty thermostat on our BRAND new water heater
-Cried and prayed due to the terrible two’s and tantrums – and this is no lie
-Missed my sister whom was in Thailand more than I thought I ever would – because when Steven is asleep and something happens I pick up the phone and call her
-I came down with the flu
-Battled a bit of insomnia (it comes and goes)
-Had to jump start the Yukon with the Dodge in the rain
-Worked tirelessly on the backyard in between the rain
-Injured my foot
-Used a new exfoliate which caused adult acne, so I corrected with Retin A, which caused my face to peel off look burned
-My laptop froze and needed a hard drive replacement (I still do not have it)

I am sure I am missing something, but regardless of the “something” it has just been a difficult few weeks. I have learned a lot about my tolerance level, how to listen to my body (with being sick and my foot being injured) and not over do it, how important sleep really is, how heavily I rely on technology, and how embarrassing tantrums REALLY are (although I will never judge another mom at the market – because my “princess” is NOT perfect).

In the midst of all the chaos I have worked on new products and received a number of photos from people whom have proudly displayed them! I could not be more thankful for the support I have. I feel so honored that a few gift certificates and accessories will be auctioned off in March and April at two big events! I have also made the business decision to focus more on accessories rather than clothing. I will continue to sell my fun “onsie,” but after prayer and conversations with Steven I believe I am moving in the right decision...

I received an order for 8 hair clips / pins for next week from my mother in law. I was excited to work on these because they will be passed out to 8 of her very best girlfriends from high school. Here is a bit of history… my mother in law was not only Miss Fremont in her youth, but also a cheer captain for her high school. Every year for the past 20 plus years the cheer team meets for a “girls only” vacation in February. In years past they go to Tahoe, but last year they decided 2010 would be the year they did something different. They decided on a cruise to Mexico. For months my mother in law has been working out, eating vegan and preparing for the trip. It is actually heart warming to hear the excitement in her voice. The only part of the vacation that she is apprehensive about it the color she was instructed to wear the duration of the trip (and Steven and I still cannot figure out the reasoning behind wearing a particular color)….anyway, the color is PINK! Now, anyone who knows my mother in law knows pink is her LEAST favorite color. I told her to purchase or bring me the dark colors she loves and we will embellish with “pink!” So, last night I finished the 8 clips / pins for her… each one is different and I absolutely love them. I am not a pink person; however I will be making a few for myself to wear this Spring…

Last Friday Ethan and I went to Anthropologie to get a gift card. It has been about a month since I had been in last and as I entered the store it was as though I had NEVER set foot in an Anthropologie. It is my Disneyland! We walked slowly not missing a single section… we smelled every candle and perfume. Sadly their accessory section is not very big and it is near the registers. Great marketing, but it creates traffic jams and I feel rushed as I pick through the clips, rings and necklaces. I found a few hair clips I fell in love with. They ranged from $20-32, and knowing that I could recreate a similar clip I could not spend that kind of money on ONE clip. Perhaps for Valentines Day or my birthday I will treat myself (if anything I can use it as a proto type). Without further adieu here are the new clips and pins….

Tutorial Tuesday – Valentine Mailboxes

There are a handful of days that I look forward to EVERY year. The first is my anniversary; second is Ethan’s birthday, then Olivia’s birthday, Stevens’s birthday, Christmas and Valentines Day… There is a common thread, birthdays (and Christmas is Jesus’ birthday) and love days (my anniversary and Valentines Day). Every year I make a BIG deal out of these “holidays.” Although Steven’s absence makes some of them a bit difficult and the amount of money I spend on them probably annoys him I just cannot help myself!

Last Thursday the paper I have been waiting two months for was in Ethan’s blue folder… it was his class Valentine list. He needed to make something to collect his “goodies” and since he is almost 8, well it needed to be “cool!” So, at first I asked if he wanted me to sew him a bag and he was grateful and sweet, but I could tell he wasn’t too thrilled. So I had an idea (which I thought was brilliant and no other creative mommy had thought of)… a mailbox! He loved it and it was genuine when he said… “Yeah mom, that sounds cool!” I started to sketch how I was going to construct it and what materials we could use. So I came up with the following (and needless to say, there are other moms whom did the same thing for their kiddos and sadly theirs turned out better – check out Pumpkin Patterns blog). So, I give myself an “A” for effort and the final result is priceless…

Here is what you need and what you do…

Supplies:
2 cereal boxes
1-2 smaller boxes (I used a cake mix box)
Glue gun (and glue)
Decorative paper
Mod Podge
Paint brushes
Sharpie
Stickers

1. Cut 2 cereal boxes in half (you can use whatever size you want your mailbox to be). You will want four rectangles.
2. Lay one rectangle flat and fashion two additional sides in a dome. Glue. Let dry.
3. Trace mailbox ends with remaining rectangle.
4. Leave the front of the mailbox end a bit longer (sketch a dotted line on the lip).
5. Glue the ends on the box (glue a trim on the front of the mailbox – the piece with the lip).
6. Trace a flag out of remaining cardboard or paper (do not attach).
7. Once all the glue has dried its time to decorate.
8. I love Mod Podge so we tore strips of paper and painted it on with Mod Podge glue. We then decorated the flag the same way. Allow time to dry.
9. After the boxes dried I glued (with the glue gun) the flag on the box.
10. Final decoration… the kids used a variety of stickers to complete their masterpiece.

Well… Ethan and I went to Blue Nami for 50% off sushi (four rolls and two drinks was 30 bucks), then we went to Target for our monthly necessities, then we picked up Lulu from Mimi’s, then I came home, put away our things, started a load of laundry and put the kids to bed. Exciting huh?!

I think a few people do… but I also think they have never taken the opportunity to get to know me…

Well tons… tonight is a wedding celebration and my date is my cousin Em, Sunday is church (missed last Sunday so Im excited to go today) then to the Ang’s house to hang out with the family (and eat and watch the Super Bowl), then next week I am excited to see how much money we will get back in taxes… I am booking our Jamaican vacation ASAP… and finally for my husband. I know God is working on a plan for him and I am so excited to see his plan.

Made slow cooked BBQ pork sandwiches, did homework with Ethan, cleaned, cleaned and cleaned. Then made ice cream Sunday’s for the kids, then cleaned, put Lu down and watched a bit o’ Dog the Bounty Hunter with E.

Hem your blessings… A tribute to my cousins Em and John

I absolutely love this… in fact it is on the bottom of all my invoices. I try to remember this and thank God daily for my blessings… This week marked another year that my extended family is minus one. My second cousin Em has become like my fourth sister (as I consider Angie, Jamie and Em my sisters - so I have a few surrogates it helps me cope). She is from an amazing family; her mother is my grandmother’s sister. We are about a year apart and as I spend more time with her I only wish that we had been closer as “teens.” Years ago her family suffered a great loss. Her oldest brother John died of cancer. I was in sixth grade and I remember the funeral. I remember my aunt Lindys Victorian home quiet, and I remember family members although crying smiling. They smiled about the time they did have with John. One thing I must note about this family… they are all incredibly talented, smart, funny and they have these amazing smiles… as I type this I can see the smile on Em’s face, Mark’s face, Julie’s face, Mellissa’s face, Debbie’s Face, and faintly Johns face. Like the rest of the family I only wish I too had got more time with him. More time to develop the picture of his smile. With every child married, grandchild and great-grand child born, I cannot help to think of the pain my Aunt and Uncle must feel. I cannot imagine the pain getting easier, and I cannot imagine the loss of a child. Therefore, every year from now on I will dedicate this week to my Aunt Linda, Uncle John, and cousins. I am proud to be a part of this family and I will hem my blessings… I will be thankful for all I have and the time I have with them so they shall not unravel.

I sat among family and friends yesterday whom celebrated the life of Kathy Jones. When Papa Buster got up to speak I gripped my Kleenex as I was anticipating stories that bring me to tears and instantly. Well he did just the opposite. He mad me laugh. He told funny stories about their life on the ranch. The service was short and sweet… yet it made me think of my life and my life with my love. Without being morbid I thought about, what stories would he tell… would he make everyone laugh? How many people would be attending? Will they have cake? If I could make one request…LOTS OF CAKE… I love, love, love cake…. At the end of the day I had just a bit more appreciation for Steven and our life together. Only God knows when it’s my time to go home; it was something that I have always feared (or perhaps it was the way I was going to die is what I feared)… but as I age I realize when it is my time…. Well it is my time! My hope is to raise my children to be honorable and to follow their dreams (whatever they may be) and that my husband knows that I love him… I love him with all my heart and soul (even though I get busy and don’t always tell him) and that I am very proud of him. I am proud to be the tail as he is the head and we work so well together. We cannot function without each other. So thank you for loving me Steven…

Life, love and experience….

Today started like this… READY, SET, GO....FASTTTTTT…… I woke up today (under my ever so warm electric blankie) thinking of the things I had to accomplish; however I took a deep breath and thanked God for the day that I had ahead (as it was not promised). So then… up and at it… Bible Study, kids up, beds made, showers taken, breakfast and lunch made, P90X DONE… oh, and some sewing was completed too. By 2pm I was exhausted, but I was excited to work in Ethan’s class and start our trek to Clearlake. Saturday is the memorial for Grandma Kathy (my brother in laws grandma). Although grandma Kathy was not “MY” grandma, my brother in laws family has welcomed me with open arms as one of their own over a decade ago. In fact, Lulu and Ethan consider them all grandparents, uncles and aunties! They love the family property (not the switch backs up), the horses, cows, water, wild life and country music! I love the lake, bed and breakfasts, horses, view, and the fact I will never reside HERE! And sis WILL.

After a four hour journey (which should have taken two hours)…. We arrived at the condo ready for a weekend full of laughs, tears and stories. The past few hours have been interesting to say the least. Not a bad interesting but a comical family interesting! As I sip… no guzzle my Fre (non alcoholic wine), I laugh at the political bantering between my loved ones. Very comical to say the least, and yes… I added my own commentary (to keep fueling the fire perhaps). All has quieted (after the condo police and my mother in law grounded us), and now that Joe Joe is here Im sure this 1 am party will last a few more hours! Oh wait…. Jen is up! Now the party has started….

All that aside… today has been a day of reflection. I have thought a lot today about the circle of life. As one life begins, one life ends and thus is the cycle. I thank God for my husband, babies, family, and friends. I cannot take any days for granted and as difficult as the day might be I know that someone has it more difficult than I need to be happy with what I have… again anyone that knows me knows I don’t take the little things for granted!

So at a little after 1 AM, good night moon, good night Clearlake, good night Ethan, good night Lulu, good night family, good night friends and good morning my wonderful darling husband!

AND PS…. P90X killed me today… OUCH

Unexpected Gifts…

I truly feel there is NOTHING better than unexpected presents from loved ones…this week I have received two gifts in the mail. The first was handmade soap from my Aunt Lynn (whom is a phenomenal artist in Laguna Beach), and the second was a coin heart that reads “you are loved” from my girlfriend Niki… aka Sunshine! I met Niki through another friend and we quickly bonded. She is amazing…she is so smart and funny… she is a HUGE Sucre Lulu fan too… anyway, as I was out today I just kept thinking how small tings are such blessings and they came at the perfect time. Such a God thing… that’s how He works… never early and never late… always on time; I have had an interesting week thus far and Im learning through my Creflo Dollar Bible studies that I CAN manage my stress. With that said, this is what I am doing different this year:

1. Breathe
2. Think before I speak
3. Read my Bible when I need a time out
4. Lower my decimals
5. Don’t use the word STRESS
6. P90X

Anyone who knows me well knows that one of the traits I picked up from my dad was the LOVE of infomercials. I have been wanting for a while to get on a better eating plan… I find myself NOT eating throughout the day and of all people I know this is super unhealthy. Well two days ago I woke up prior to my Bible study and was mesmerized and hypnotized by the P90X… so I am quickly approaching 33 and we are taking the kids on a tropical vacation this summer... we have pretty much decided on Jamaica (Beaches Resort). Therefore, I want to be in the best shape of my life (and stay in it). So I purchased the program. I have been so excited to start. Today yet another unexpected (I was expecting it on the 2nd or 3rd of February) gift came in the mail… it was my P90X kit. I have decided to go with the “lean” program. I ran 2 miles then got crazy with it. Today was my cardio day and it kicked my bum. I can tell my metabolism has kicked up a notch because Im huuuunnngry. I am committed to this and when I have my mind set… well its set. I will post my progress weekly.

I worked on two necklaces and more clips today. I have not had the opportunity to post the pictures, however I will. I am so pleased with how the new clips are turning out. They are so very vintage!

I will be attending my “grandmothers” (brother in laws grandmother, whom I have known for 15 years)funeral this weekend. Grandma Kathy passed away the 7th of January after her organs began to fail. I was honored to put together her power point and memory photo boards. Sys (my sister Erin), my mom and I start the journey to Clearlake Friday at 5:45. I am excited about getting out of town and giggling with Sys and my mom… we have fun together and I know it will be yet another memorable trip.

So, when I get back… I will have updates, photos, and other randomness.

Blogging for the first time... EVER

Im a self proclaimed armature blogger… This is my first blog EVER… I feel as though I am so very behind times… sad state of affairs for Sucre Lulu. I have had the pleasure to meet a fellow crafter and blogger Edi Wadsworth (Life in Grace) and this weekend she encouraged me to blog! So here I sit… a million thoughts running through my mind as to where I actually start. I have come to the conclusion that this will not only be a blog with Sucre Lulu updates, but a blog about my hectic days, nonsense ramblings, and useless factoids.

For those who do not know me (and even care for that matter) I am: A stay at home mother of two, a wife to an amazing man who is currently in Iraq, a Christian, a business owner, a runner, a reader, a crafter, a thinker, and a “what ifer.” I trust God, I have faith, I honor my parents, I teach my children the difference between right and wrong, I am loyal and an armature blogger. I love rain boots, the ocean, cleaning products, sushi, antiques, thrift stores, heated car seats, pillows, Sunday family dinners, electric blankets, cooking, and the library. I cannot live without my husband, my Bible, flat iron, scarves, Bounce fabric sheets, slippers, running shoes, Nike sports band, seltzer water, and my Blackberry.

On a business note… I have started adding flower pins to the Sucre Lulu accessory line. They are turning out beautiful. I have been making new hair clips; and those too have turned out much better than I anticipated. I will update photos on the site (http://www.sucrelulu.com/) soon...
